Types CG-1400GA through CG-550GA are yttrium-gadolinium-aluminum-iron garnets in order of increased gadolinium substitution.

Characteristics & Applications

These garnet materials have properties found in both gadolinium substituted and aluminum substituted garnets. The aluminum substitution provides a wide range of saturation magnetization. The gadolinium substitution increases the microwave power handling ability and improves the temperature stability. Improved broadband circulator characteristics that specify minimum insertion loss are attainable because of the low dielectric loss tangent of these materials. The frequency range of these materials is from L-band through C-band for non-resonant devices.
